I am going to start up a new 20 gallon tank. This time I am going to use a fishless cycle. I learned a lession with my first tank which is cycled finally, but don't want to have to watch the poor fish suffer while the tank is cycling. Ok so I want to add about 3 Albino Corys, and Id like to have lots of Guppys in the tank. Normally I know its an inch of fish per gallon rule but I am wondering if since they are guppys and they are very small and slim bodies can I cheat and get away with a few more. Plus does anyone have any idea how long does it take to cycle a tank fishless way. Will the process speed up if i take some filter squezing from my other tank. Thanks

it does depends on your filter if you want more guppys, over filter your tank and you should be ok. fish tanks very from tank to tank for the time it take to cycle, some take 7 days others 7 weeks you just need to let it do it's thing.

oh yes it would make it quicker if you take some media from your other tank but be careful you dont mess the other tank up by taking out to much media. be careful :)

i have a few added guppies in mine, but remember, they will breed like crazy so unless you have a place to sell to or people who want them, you may want to keep the guppies down until you have some fry.

I have 2 albino corys (one passed, I did have 3) and 3 guppies and they have plenty of room to swim around in. I also have 2 blue rams, and everyone gets on fine.

I think I could easily fit more guppies in, but I am not going to, because I want something different like a dwarf gourami for some variety and some rasboras.

But my tank is a 20gl too, and yeah I say you could have 5 or 6 guppies, maybe more..

You could also do an all mlae guppy tank and not have to worry about the babies
like 5-6 males

Very good idea Zafira because he will end up like me with 35 new babies that have just been born, and what am I supposed to do with 35 babies?!

Males have alot more vibrant colour too.
