Just make sure the babies are big enough not to fit into the mouths of the biggest fish. It's a rough guide, but it works!

That's really hard to answer, because it depends so much on so many things. Genetics, water quality, light, and food are all big factors in how fast fry grow. Mine actually grow pretty slow, but I am not feeding them live food, and they aren't in a very large tank. If you're like me, a few months is safe - but I am not taking any chances, so they probably could go in earlier than I will risk.

If you want you fry to grow faster just up the temp in the fry tank to 28C (82F) and feed them on cooked egg yoke and water.

boil and egg and break off the yellow yoke when it has been cooled down. break a piece off and mix it with tank water in a cup then make past with it. dip the end of the spoon in it and swish it in the tank. the fry will eat it up . do this 6 times a day and they get big. with the spare egg yoke you can break it up and give it to your adults the go mad over it. but not to much to them or then will die by over feeding pure protein.
