I added a guppy to the tank today, and it wont stop harassing my female platies!!!!!

I have 1 male guppy, and 2 female platies, is this behaviour ok? will it die down?

Since it is still 1m to 2f. Should i get another female platy, or a male platy?

(dont worry about fry)

You have the Right numbers, it should calm down.
You only have one male so it will be separated between the 2 females?

I could be wrong tho???

H

Its usually ok between 1 make GUPPY and 2 female GUPPIES

Its usually ok between 1 make GUPPY and 2 female GUPPIES.

But this is 1 male GUPPY, and 2 female PLATIES

Is there any difference?

Okay, who totally predicted this one? :p

Keep an eye on them, make sure it doesn't get too bad. If it does, you may have to seperate them. Do you have a lot of hiding places in the tank?

I have some bogwood for them to hide behind, but overall, the guppy just follows them anyway. Ill consider returning the guppy if it goes too far.

I shall report back

I jhad this problem with my guppy male he just wouldn't leave my platies alone he didnt even care about the female guppies in the end the females got so depressed and stressed i had to get rid of the guppy

Returned the female platies! And got him some friends, he looks so much happier now. lol

A problem in what way? Serious one, no, as long as they don't get too aggressive and the fins don't get infected. A problem in that they won't have perfect tails..yes.

Dont mind with them not having perfect fins. Do you mean, they will constantly have holes in their fins?

Is it normal for them to follow eachother sometimes? Why do they do that? Do they enjoy eachothers company?

I meant for their health btw.

Oh also, how long do guppies live on average?

Not holes, just the ends will be a bit jagged.

Yes, it's normal. It's most likely aggression.

1-4 years, depends how inbred they are. :X
