My guppie gave birth tonight at some point and we were not prepared. We are going to buy a breeding net enclosure tomorrow but what do i do for now?

When i noticed the babies, i put them in a tub that i have left floating in the water. Will that be okay for them until tomorrow?

What do i feed them?

Aaaaand, does anyone know if pet stores will take on any babies that will make it?

Thanks x

Not if that floating tup doesn't get oxygen somehow. You need an air stone or keep changing the water with water from the tank or add an air stone. Hopefully the bioload won't be too big to create an ammonia rise and shock them. You can add as many live plants as you can inside like java moss, mass balls, or anything else you have handy. It could absorb some of the ammonia. If you don't specialised baby food, get some flakes and make a very, very fine powder. Then feed them very little amount not to pollute the water until you get them a proper box that provides flow.

congrats... when my guppy had babies (still are) i leave them in there.. and make sure the parents are well fed and the filter wont suck them up.. if you don't have fry food then you can do this...
hard boil an egg and take the yellow yolk.. mash it up and put it into pea sizes and you can freeze them as well.. drop about one a day in the morning when feeding and their good for the whole day... works good and babies are nice and fat.
if you have lots of hiding spots in the tank and just a guppy tank they should be fine in there... or you can make a breeder net yourself.. really easy... just take mesh that is dense enough for them not to do through it, but allows water to pass through it.. some sticks... etc etc and boom you got a separator.
