This morning i noticed that ive had my first guppy fry...six of them I have put them in a seperate breeding trap so that the other fish cannot get to them.

What type of food should i feed them and how often should they be fed??

Also when should i put them back in with the other fish?

Congrats Deano, Your a MOM :D

You can feed the little guys crushed flake, just the same as the adults, but powdered up for their little tiny mouths. They will grow quicker the more times a day you feed them. They will also appreciate Baby Brine Shrimp. This is very good for them and can be bought frozen.

Other then that, if your like me and work, you can't feed them more then 3 times a day. Stick a small live plant like a baby Java Fern, or some Java Moss, or a piece of Hornwort in the breeder for them to munch on between meals. There are tiny little organisms that live on the plants and the babes will eat them.

Fry can be VERY dirty little things. The best way I have found to keep a breeder cleaned out is with a Turkey Baster. Just suck the waste off the bottom with it. Best $.99 I ever spent

HTH :)

when they get bigger than the parents mouths you should put them in the big tank..... ive tried keeping fish in breeders and in big tanks... they grow much faster being in a bigger open area... they grew really slow living in a breeder net.... i have 3 week old babies in my 10 gallon tank with 10 other big guys and theyve tripled in size since they were born.. 3 weeks into it....... good luck with your fry... this is my first fry that have lived for more than a few days since i moved... i had some in a breeder trap and some silly fish jumped in and ate them all :( ......o well.... these 3 should grow up and live happily ever after (awww) lol :smb:
