Oh no!
Really bad news, one of my Guppies has lost his tail and dorsal fins! He has what looks like a skeleton tail and dorsal fin now... no colour, just spines :(
What can I do?
Why did this happen?
:-( :-(

Many of the other Guppies are crowding around him, just swimming either side. One just knocked a plant he got trapped on, swam into the plant and dislodged the guppy. Thought that was a sign that they aren't gonna pick on him... what do you think?

He can't swim so well right now, but he is eating.

Gosh that sounds horrible :/

I'm not sure what the problem could be but I sure hope you figure out what it is!!

Good luck

I just answered this in the livebearers section..lol
Like I said..more deatils of your set up would be good, plus have you added anything to your tank just recently?

He sounds on his last legs to be honest.... and myabe th ebest thing to do would be to put him out of his mysery. They can go on for days like that and then still die, and its awfull to watch.

Treat for Fungus infection/finrot stright away. if you only have guppies in that tank you can also add aquarium salt to help with healing and to reduce stress. And melafix is good also to add to help healing.

But Don't add salt if you have any type of catfish in that tank it will burn them and possibly kill them!

Hope things are ok :/

Dont say that! I'm sure he's gonna get better! but yes use some melafix and some salt would definetly help!

I had a cory that had its fins like how your describing. it got fin rot.

I have some treatment stuff to throw in, and I bought a breeding net, thinking I could seperate the poor guy in here so the others dont pick on him. Thats if he is still alive when I get there :/

i had a goldfish like that i treat him but he did not cure.
if he does not get better i will tell you what to do.
if you want to keep him to suffer do not read on.
get some ice in a bag with some water from your fish tank put the suffering fish in it. put it in the freezer (this may sound cruel) and leave it there for about 10 mins the fish will fall asleep in this time giving it a nice fast death sorry if this sounds cruel but thats the best way to have them die.
what would you like to do watch the fish suffer down the lav or let it die peacefully.

james

i shure miss eddy though he was a fan tail.
