If you have tree male guppies in a tank and then you put a lady guppy in what will happen?
Will they kill each other if they haven't had it for a while? or will they be gentlemenly about it and take turns, with no fuss?

I don't want to cause trouble in the tank.

Guppies do what guppies do  they'll be fine, though obviously prepare for fry. They won't kill each other. They also won't "take it in turns or be gentlemanly". Guppies aren't like that....

There will be aggression. The dominant male COULD kill the weakest male. But there will be a lot of aggression, not to mention stress on the one girl. If you want to put girls in, you'll need at least 2 girls per male. :)

Then you have the problem of fry. And lots of fry. I'd suggest you just keep it to the males, and maybe add a few more, because they'll do better if there is at least 5. :)

So what exactly will happen then?, and what will they be like with her then?
Are we talking spit roast?

What exactly will happen? You'll see a lot of chasing, probably some nipping, maybe one getting picked on to death. Depends on how aggressive your males are.

The one female will be VERY stressed, because she will constantly have males following her, and trying to mate with her. And stressed fish aren't happy fish. If she gets too stressed, she can get diseased, or even die.

no she will be fine the males will just squabble over her (nothing to be worried about though) why are you only thinking about getting one female?

Not to be rude, but get a grip. :grr:
If you have a one track mind, it's best to take it somewhere else.

Unless you want loads of fry and a tank to grow them out in and take care of them, don't add a female.

The female will not be fine with so many males, the males will become very agressive to each other and most likely end of with one or two of them been killed by the dominant male, the female will get harrassed non stop and she will most likely abort any fry she gets pregnant with from the harrassment from the males and will die at a young age from all the stress, even if she delivers a successfull pregancy most if not all of the fry will get eaten by the competing males.

Advice: do not put any females with your males unless you have a big enough tank to hold all the females you are going to need to get the gender ratio balanced, we are talking at least 9females here and a tank of at least 30gallons.
Then you would also have to cope with the huge amount of fry they will produce meaning you are going to need at least 2 cycled 10gallon tanks to raise the fry in.

How big is your current tank the guppys are in and how long has it been set up for?

well I was going to get three, and the fish shop lady was getting ready to pick them out for me when she asked what fish I had in there already, and when I mentioned cherry barbs she put her net away. She said that they will nip at their fins, she said platty's would be ok though so I got two to start. They look nice in the tank, but the cherry barbs are chasing them around a bit.
They also chase my Panda Corries around so I might have to get rid of them.
I'll take them back to the fish shop and get more Plattys I think, maybe add some Neon tetras latter.

I'd had a few fish die, recently but my tank has settled down now.
