I know that you shouldn't have two male Bettas in the one tank as they will fight but is there any problems between a male betta and a male guppy or between two male guppies???

*nods*

Exactly right. A male betta can mistake the long traling fins of a male guppy for another betta, and try to attack it.

It's ok to keep just male guppies, in fact it's a better plan than keeping males and females together as it stops you beign overwhelmed by fry

I'd say give it a go, but have a backup plan.

I have kept 4 bettas consecutively with male guppies, there have been no deaths. But always keep an eye out, in case your betta goes mad and decides to kill everything. And have a spare tank ready.

P.T.

On a similar note, I was intending to have a school of 6 or so zebra danios with my guppies. I have read different reports about whetehr or not they are fin nippers. Any thoughts???

keep the zebras in a group of 6 or more and you should have little difficulty keeping those 2 fish together. You may get a nipper from time to time but they are usually pretty easy to identify. :)

yea male and male guppies are fine unless one of them are disconfigured and wants to attack the other one cuz he wants all the hotties in the tank to himself ;)

If you wanna be on the safe side you could try pearl danios instead, I heard they're less nippy. Don't use them to cycle with though cos they're not as hardy.

If you have a lot of hiding places, there should be no problem. I had a betta in a tank with guppies and swordtails and he would be as curious as my gouramis are. but the guppies would just skit into a threshold of plants or rocks. it CAN be done, but u have to plan it the right way.
