Guppies trying to breed with Sword Tails

Ive had my tank a while now and introduced Sword tails into it about a month ago (two females one male) a typical breeding set. About 2 weeks ago my girlfriend bought me 2 male and three female guppies for the tank. Ive breed guppies before and know that you can breed them in a toilet if you so desire but for some reason two of the females are losing their colour. At the same time the dominant male guppy continously chased one of the female sword tails around, im pretty sure he had intentions of breeding with her. I seperated the dominant male and two of the female guppies into a seperate tank and thought that this would sort out the problem. Now the less dominant male guppy is following this sword tail around and in the other tank the dominant male is showing no attraction to the other females. Im baffled, if anyone has any clue what could be going on here or any solutions it would be appreciated.

well i can't help u but i can tell u u're not alone! my male guppy does the same thing.......he ignores the female guppy but has attempted 2 mate with both my male and female platies!!!!! i don't know y he does this!

Your females are proably losing there color because in pet shops. The pet owners feed them special artifical food that enhance there color. So you can either just let it be or purchase this expensive food.

Or it could be that you need water changes, or it could be that in the pet shops you notice the color on the guppy more because of the light or how the tank is set up. I think food could be a posibility but I don't think that's really the problem. Cause in my fish aquarium when I bought my fish " the guppies are very bright " and for some reason the female is very bright as well... And they haven't lost their brightness if anything they've gained it. The Sward tail situation, yes your male is getting excited, too excited actualy. I read up on guppies breeding with mollies, and I saw one heck of an ugly fish that was half mollie half guppy they usualy die if this happens but it's rare. But I doubt your guppy could mate with the sward tail, probably but who knows
