Okay for some reason my guppies are dropping dead. Four of them live in an enlarged breeding trap for the sake of supplying my convicts meals of fry. This morning when I woke 3 of them were dead for really no apparent reason with only one male left. The male is now swimming either with his stomach on top or swimming with his mouth facing the top of the tank or on an angle. He seems to be struggling to reach the surface of the water, then slowly drift bakc down, swim to the surface of the water... slowly dift back down. I have only had them for about a week and after I brought them an added them to my tank I noticed that they had hardly any energy! What is killing my guppies????

OMG the weirdest thing just happend!! My last guppy slowly sunk to the bottom side of the tank and just layed there for about 5 minutes which i thought he had just died and was just about to get the fish net to scoop him out. Then after thinking he was dead with no sign of life, he came back to life, and with full energy raced to the top of the tank. And now that is what he keeps on doing, he will lay lifeless on the bottom of the tnak, and then get a jolt of life in to him and race to the top of the tank... weird!

Hi dab,

Do you really need 'feeders'?

I'd imagine they'd be suffering some serious stress couped up in a breeding trap with convicts swimming around underneath them -_-

I think you should check the chemicals in your tank, the heat of the water, and your filter. There is definetely something wrong. Have your guppies developed an extremely hunched back, because it sounds like it could be that. If it's having trouble swimming at an angle and looks miserbale, it is either, old or has a disease. In which case, you can choose, but i'd say, if you don't really care about them, wait til they die, take them back with the receit to the pet shop. If you care about them and want to be as kind as possible, you need to kill them if they're not getting better. DO NOT FLUSH THEM DOWN THE TOILET ALIVE. Because you may think they;re dead, but they will live a long and painful life. The best thing you can do is to chop their heads off right behind their gills. This will cause them no pain.

Good luck!
