do i buy 2 diff meds and dump them in the water same time? i think they have shimies but finrot for sure.

We need more info in size of tank in gallons, plus water stat in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, how many fish and which type.
Not the author of this informaion below.
Symptoms:

This disease is named for the curious behavior seen in afflicted fish. Fish will swim with an odd, shimmying movement of the body. If left untreated, the afflicted fish will become unable to swim and will sit on the bottom, listlessly shimmying. This disease affects mostly livebearers, and particularly Mollies.

Cause:

Cause unkown but may be due to a variety of numerous pathogens, including protozoan, bacterial, and fungal.

Treatment:

Isolate the fish in a hospital tank and increase the temperature to 85°F (27°C). Treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic. Also ensure that the water chemistry is within acceptable ranges. Livebearers' should always be kept in water that has a pH of 7.8 - 8.3 and a hardness of 15°DH+.

what does the water params, have to do with which medicine that is best for fin rot...? besides i'm chaning the water tomrow and buying meds tmr, so i'll check the params then

The water parameters can give an indication of what has caused these problems in the first place, if the cause isn't sorted out the symptoms will more than likely return ending up with constant meds needed which gets expensive.
Hence sorting out the cause will leave some money in pocket for more fish or help towards another tank

SHIMMYING CAN BE CAUSED BY THE FISH GETTING CHILLED, SO CHECK YOUR HEATER IS WORKING PROPERLY, IT MAY JUST BE THAT THEY ARE FEELING GENERALLY CRAP IF THEY HAVE FIN ROT.

FIRSTLY DO A PARTIAL WATER CHANGE OF ABOUT 10-15%, BUT BE SURE THAT YOU USE SOME BOILED WATER TO TAKE THE EDGE OFF THE COLDNESS, EITHER THAT OR TRICKLE IT IN REALLY SLOWLY. I WOULD ALSO ADD A BIT OF SALT TO THE WATER AS GUPPIES LIKE THE WATER TO BE QUITE HARD.

I RECOMMEND THE WATERLIFE TREATMENTS, THEY ACT QUICKLY AND ARE POTENT, SO YOU DON'T NEED TO USE VERY MUCH, I THINK MYXAZIN IS THE ONE FOR FIN ROT.

DON'T FORGET TO REMOVE ANY CARBON.

GOOD LUCK.

I would like to point out that in livebearers, shimmying paired with fin rot can be caused by columnaris. However, if they aren't basically dead right now, it is more likely that your fish have some kind of severe bacterial infection, manifesting itself both internally and externally. I would suggest testing all of your water conditions, and correcting any that are off. Doing a water change and adding salt will likely improve the tank conditions, and salt kills many freshwater bacteria. In addition, you'll want to seek out a strong, broad-spectrum antibiotic such as tetracyclene that can deal with both the fin rot and possible internal infections simultaneously. Feeding anti-parasitic and anti-biotic foods (Jungle makes them) can boost recovery time as well, though you'd need to ground the pellets for them because they are just so darn small.

If people ask for parameters, there is a reason, so please just trust us and give us the requested information. I would not wait until tomorrow for the water change, or the parameter test, honestly; I would do both today, with aquarium salt, and begin treatment ASAP. The longer the fish are in poor water conditions, the more the condition will advance.
It'd also be great to know tank size, tank temp, if it is cycled or not, the frequency and type of water changes, etc. as all of these things can help in diagnoses. Different diseases and parasites have different conditions that they breed in, and different pathology. The more info we have, the better.

I couldnt do it yesterday night, it was already 10:30pm.

the cause is because of the stress of moving, i just moved 1 month ago and the illne happend near that time too, althoguht i didnt notice it back then.

BTW i ahve cories in the tank.

The tank has around 50 guppies, all not adult, this wasa breeding tank

Could you please, please give the information on the tank size and state as requested? Several people have asked, and I have asked multiple times. It would really help us suggest viable treatment options. Some meds are more efficient for large tanks, others for small. Some can not be used if the tank is cycled. Some diseases occur in stress conditions as you'd mentioned, others in poor water parameters, and others still from overstocking. I would like to help find a medicine that is good for you, and assist in diagnosis, but anyone trying to help could really use more information.

Also, did you get the parameters, and whichever meds you decided on? Perhaps the parameters will give insight into the illness, and the response to the meds will also help in diagnosis.

I am curently changing water right now, and the tank is 55G I have kept them in there for years.

I thought i might as well tell you this story:

I moved 1 month ago, they were in a 20G tank with no filters for 2 days.

After i added them in the tank, i went out to buy a few guppies, the guppies came in the day before, i still broguth them because i have no time whatsoever afterwords, bad mistake, one of the guppies have finrot, which was contagious and because of my guppies' stress condtition from the days before, their immune system is not a good, therefore, they ahve finrot now.

Since i wanted to get 4, i saw one of the employees told another guy to pick out a guppy for me, i didnt choose it, then i introduced it to my tank and noticed that it was sick, i quickly removed it but was too late. The guy also wrote down void gaurantee, obviously, it was a trap. He picked out a bad guppy because he knows that i dont have gaurentee.

I too have a guppy that has what looks like shimmying, and finrot. I was on vacation and got a call from my friend who was watching or fish, and she told me that one of our fish did not look good. We got back and she had moved out of the tank becasue it died.

I have a 10gal tank that has been running for about 2 months now.
Nitrite : 0 ppm
Nitrate : 0 ppm
Ammonia : .25 ppm
PH : 8.2 - 8.4
Temp : 76 f

I have 1 male guppy, he is sitting in the corner not swimming around, and it looks like he has finrot. I have 1 male platy, 1 preggo female platy, and 1 otto(very small). The other fish that died was a female platy. I have not done a water change since I have been home. I usually do them 1/month and do 25%. I also need to siphon the tank.

Have I diagnosed correctly, and is there a chance to save my guppy?
