:( Something is strange....my guppies are dying all over! Do guppies need salt? I was told this maybe the problem. I lose about three a day..it is horrible...the seemingly healthy ones suddnely sink to the bottom breath rapidly and then die. What should I do?????? :-(

Although salt is good for guppies, it is not necessary from my experience assuming the tank water's conditions are OK ofcourse.
Whenever a problem occurs in my aquarium, the first thing I do is measure the levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate as well as pH and hardness. Maybe you had a major ammonia spike which stressed the fish?

sorry to hear about yr problems crystalizedguppy - how long has yr tank been set up - how big is the tank - how many fish in it - how often do you do water changes - soooo many questions!!

Hahah.Well...I have had quite a few deaths since I posted this. Luckily today I didn't find any dead fish...but a really sick one. Ones that appear to be healthy die the next day. I have had the tank since....... Uh...two weeks ago. The levels in the tank are fine. I don't understand!!!!

Did you cycle the tank before adding all these guppies? (must have quite a few fish in it if you can lose several a day and still have some)

Hi,
please follow the link in my sig. about avoiding and treating New Tank Syndrome - I suspect your fish are dying of ammonia and nitrite poisoning :(

I agree with anna it probably is ammonia/nitrite poisoning. How big is your tank/how long has it been running.

Follow my link at the bottom as well (It's actually the same) :D

If it;s not a water problem then it could be that you have:-

Too much salt,
Temp too high,

if you rule them too out then maybe they have gill worms. How old are your babies?
