:fun: I have a new tank with 5 guppies in it. I tried feeding them flakes and they ignored them. Then i got small pellets ...and theyre going nuts eating them - but ONLY from the bottom. I havent a clue why..and never heard of guppies as bottom feeders. They arent interested in dried bloodworms at the top either. Can someone advise me on this - and should I be worried if theyre eating fine - but from the bottom? Thanks,

I've never had that problem with guppies, but I have had it with other fish. Someone told me to feed as usual and not to use sinking pellets exclusively because then they will never get used to coming to the surface to feed. I was worried that they would starve but when they got hungry the did come to the top to feed, it took about a week. It was good advice. How long has your tank been running and how big is it?

my mollies actually do this too. they'll eat their flakes at the top (do as moe suggested adn give them flakes for a week to get them used to it), but when i tried shrimp pellets for my cories, the mollies were the ones who swam down and chowed down on the pellets. they also go to the bottom and get flakes they missed as well as try to steal the sinking cory wafer i use. crazy fish

While guppies are mostly top feeders they will eat from anywhere in the tank. They can be conditioned to eat from the top as moe suggested. My fish all sit at the top of the tank right in the front as soon as I turn the filter off because they know thats where the food will be.

Thats really typical with mollies they are pigs. I keep on putting sinkers in for my bottom feeder but the mollies always get it first. I like the fish but man do they eat.
