Self explanatory title really! Ive got 2 tanks atm, one with guppies and platies and the other has my kribs and some other fish. Can the breeding pair of kribs move safely into the other tank? Will they chase the other fish, some are v. small fry, just big enough to not get eaten by their own kind.

I think this is one of those questions that could go either way. The Kribs might bother, hurt or kill some of the Guppies but then they might not. Depending on how happy and comfortable they are in their new environment. If you can provide lots of plants, caves and hiding places for them then I would say go for it and just monitor the tank for a little while. You will probably be fine.

I keep a breeding pair of Kribensis in a community tank with Guppies and Platy's (and others). There are various size juvenile's that also get introduced into the tank and they all co-exist without any issues at all. However, I did lose one guppy when I first introduced the Kribs to the tank but since then there's been no issues. I think the other fish in the tank now submit to the dominant Kribs.

Good luck with it all, Im sure you'll find that if you provide the Kribs with a comfortable environment then they'll be fine.

Cheers,

JS

If the tank is under 30g I wouldnt suggest it. I have a pair of kribs in a 20g flat hex with 8 giant danios, I now have 1( I wonder who ate them? maybe the kribs) and some swords, so the swords stay out of the way but the danios were massacerd!

been there done it,

i know its just my experience, but i had a large tank (ish) 40" aint too bad for community set-up, had it MASSIVELY planted,

the only way i would say it could work is Kribs of one sex only

otherwise, if the Kribs start breeding say goodbye to your Guppies tales LOL then say goodbye the guppy!!!!

There you have it!

Works for some, not for others! My pair are guarding eggs right now and still no probs, the BN plecs are the only ones that seem to be bothering them! The guppy's flutter around the top half of the tank and don't concern the Kribs at all! My tank is 3ft long and holds 30 gallons.

I guess it's another of those fishkeeping guidelines that are just that... guidelines!

Good luck with whatever you decide jimiminy.
