I have got 2 male g. pigs. One is about 18 months and the other about 12 months. Past few days one has got really dominant and keeps trying to mount the other pigs head. I have olbas oil on as that is what the shop lady did with the baby when I bought him, to mask the scent. I put it on both but it hasnt made any difference. Do I need to split them? I have got another cage? The younger one is getting mounted and is getting quite distressed

thanks they have stopped for now I think the other one is just feeling frisky! I have given them extra fod and distracted them..Trouble is I am away next week and my sister is having them. So if they are going to argue I shall have to split them.

thanks for reply emma..there is about 6 months between them...when I got the second one the pets shop lady put olbas oil on to mask any scents and I did that again last night. The cage is not massive as it is their winter indoor one...I dont want to split them but my sister is having them for the week next week as we are going away and she will panic if they argue!

I kept guinea pigs for about 8 years and was always introducing them to new ones, they are just trying to decide which is the dominent one and it is nothing to worry about.
