Hey,

I have 3 male guinea pigs that I have had for quite a long time (the oldest I have had for about 4 years but he's about 6) and I am having problems with their nails.

I used to live with someone and between us we could cut their nails ok but now I live alone and am looking for a way to slow them growing rather than go through the stress (for me and them) of cutting them down.

They used to run around the flat and they would wear down but now they never come out of their enclosure.

So, anyone got any tips?

Hi,

I have heard of people using sandpaper and concrete slabs for them to walk on but thats not really practicle. I have 4 guineas and one is a wriggler when it comes to nails so i wrap her in a towel and leave one leg at a time poking out then i can do them easily. My boyfriend is not a pet person and won't hold them so i just got used to doing it this way. Have a read on http://www.kazzys-cavies.co.uk/forum/default.asp they might have some more ideas. Its worth joining the forum as they have loads of home remedes and treatments for guinea pigs.

Emma :)
