Wahhhhooookie! Yesterday I took a trip down to the other store to get some meds for sick fishies in the 10. They didn't have what I wanted, and I knew they had it at Walmart, so on the way home checked stopped there. You can all guess what I found....

ROWS AND ROWS OF BETTAS! AHHHHH!

They were having a special "Valentine's Day" sale on bettas, so they had a ton of them. The really good news, that all you betta lovers will like to hear, is that they had them in cups about 3 times the size of a normal betta cup. It may just be temporarily for the sale, but still, they had TONS more space to swim in. Yey. :D

They actually had crowntails, and I found the most beautiful boy that I HAD to have... he's blue and white pastel with a light head. He's just so cute - young and small. The thing is, I think he may end up being double pronged, right now his fins are very small, but I think I may see the beginnings.

Next on the list.... mother walked up with.... brace yourself (I had to)... A DOUBLE TAILED FEMALE! OMG!!! :hyper: I almost keeled over right there I was so excited. I've never even seen a double tail in person. And now I HAVE one! WHOO HOO. She's got the normal brownish body of a female betta, with bright red fins.

And of course when I was looking at the other females (they were hidden in a different place)... I found a bright greenish/blue gal with red. She's just stunning, prettiest gal I've seen around here, since they are pretty rare. I am not happy with their current habitat, but it's ok for now (divided small tank). My mom was with me and wouldn't let me get them if I got seperate tanks for everyone. The boy is in a gallon or so bowl.

Update: Girls ate bloodworms today, boy hasn't yet, but he's pretty stressed and shy, so he really really likes to hang out in his pot. Anyways, sorry so long, but I am psyched! I can't take good pics, but I'll try to get some with the webcam so you can get the idea.

wow, that sounds great ;) the walmarts here in canada have never had the variety of betta you just described. sounds like you lucked out. ;) lets see some pics hmm?

Our Walmart has been having the bettas in big cups lately, but no crowntails yet. I'm still holding out that one will slip in eventually :D

Ooo I'm glad to hear that the big cups are elsewhere too. Maybe this will become "the trend". That would be so great!! And keep your eyes peeled - I've never seen crowntails at Walmart anywhere, but there were probably 5 or more.

Also - bbk, I've got a few pics up. :)

Right on julie  great finds! I'm a little jealous... :sly:

I saw a double tailed female at a Wal-Mart the other day, it wasn't MY Wal-mart and I was about 40 miles from home and not going straight home so I didn't get her...I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing her :X

I'm going to check out your pics now... :p

Oh my goodness!!! I'm so jealous!! I'm gonna go to my Walmart now and see if there's any bettas for me! :D

Man, why can't Canada be like America when it comes to fish????
