Ok it is a completely black upside down catfish 8" has long whiskers. The closest thing i could find was a Mystus leucophasis. It was labeled as a Synodontis upside down cat. I was thinking of getting one because its awesome

sounds like one of the false upside down synos that can be bougt as usds! Be very carefull before ya get it fishy, its waaaay to big to be a USD and some of these things can get big :X

sounds like you already know your answer!!

it is mostly like the Mystus- http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/bagri...mystus/21_f.php

we'ved had them in at work before and got themkj back a few months later aorund 7inch for being agresive and eating everything.

they should have some scattered silver scales which kind of look like damage.
yup thats it. How big would the fish have to be for the mystus not to eat it? Do they grow fast? I will be settin up a 75 sometime in the next few months and will have some big fish it should be OK with but i dont know if it will still be there by that time. Would it be possible t keep it in my 55 for awhile?

it seems they grow fairly quickly to there full size of 12"

Personally I think there ugly buggers which is how i resisted the 3 large ones customers have brought back.

The tetras in your sig would be gone with in 1 night, infact with the other fish I'm surprised they are in there alive??

They may be a catfish but they are aorund the surface alot and may disrupt or get attacked by any surface predactors you get.

so overall i think there's better choices aorund!! do you really want 12" of pure black catfish taking up valuble stocking space?? 75g really isn't that much when you start putting big fish in there.

i liked him. He had a pointy face. I am surprised the tetras are still in there also I am movign them to the 10 today or tomorrow. I dont think i am getting anything that lives Near the top but i think there may be a problem during feeding time. Does anyone have any opinions? The 75 is really just for 1 frontosa and a Lima so i dont know if stockign space is a problem. i was told that the SD's would make a good secondary fish. I dont know if i really want them yet.

Are these fish Aggressive or Predatory?
