Hello ,Im new to the wounderfull world of Bettas i have a male i believe he's an old betta because he wears a slightly humped back, last Saturday i brought 3 femal bettas and his mood has completly change were as before he was happy gobbeling up food,he now just goes around flaring at them, and sulking. Why should he be so down?

Are they in a tank together?
Separate them - that's why he's upset.
If you don't separate them, someone in that tank will end up dead.

Bettas can be very terotorial although from what i have gathered it is a bit of a grey area with males and females; some people can can them together no problem but others can end up with tragedy.
I used to have a male and female betta in the same tank and they got along fine although i guess i was very lucky- i would advise you separate your males and females or significantly reduce their numbers(if they are in a large tank) because it does not look like they are gonna get along...

Both males and females are very aggressive and territorial, and fight by nature.
You need to separate them both immediately or you will end up with injured fish.

what size tank are they in?

i had a male an 5 females in a 15gal tank
(hold ur horses u betta lovers an hear the rest before u all jump on ur soap boxes :p )

with plenty of decor and hiding places or u know rocks an stuff they should be ok.

as i said i had 5 females with my old lad and everything was fine, i didnt have a death or any fighting... they didnt breed either.. but thats a plus as i didnt have time to look after fry

it can be done
