so i have been able to avoid them the hole time i have had this tank... but last week i needed one more background plant... well that was the plant and now i have these itty bitty snails (well cant really tell they are actaully snails yet) but i know they are on my glass... i think i have pulled out at least 12 of them so far this morning... they must of hatched in the last 48 hours... cuz i got 2 out last night but there has been so many more this morning... i am just so erritatied now... that i got so far with my planted tank and that stupid last plant....

i dont even know if it is possible to be able to get them all or if i am already in a loosing battle...

i cant even use any meds to get rid of them for feer of hurting my nerite snail...

get a couple of assassin snails, they cleared my 240L tank in no time of pest snails and even my mts.....
really cool looking snails too, mine have also bred now but they dont breed like pond snails etc so you will be safe :good:

but are assasin snails going to hurt my zebra nerite snail... i dont really wont anything other then him lol

Yes, unfortunately it will eat your nerite too. You could always buy more after the Assasins have done their work. I have two in my tank (assasins) although they seem pretty useless so far. Almost a week and i'm yet to see one actual attack take place. They just glide around and occasionally bury themselves in the substrate with jsut the tip of their shell sticking out

Assassins will kill/eat a snail then "hibernate" in the substrate for a few days, I have occassionally witnessed a kill, have also found dead assassins so don't know if natural or was eaten by other assassins lol
If you weigh down a slice of lettuce before lights off then retreive in the morning that should catch a few, I crush them on the glass and the fish finish the job, don't know what kind of tank you have but loaches are a good bet also. Another tip I have found useful is that they seem to take a liking to my plec wafers so I use those to round them up as well.... :good:

one problem with the lettuce is that i have a heavily planted tank so the lettuce wouldnt make a big difference... i have been just removing them as i see them .... so... dont really know what else to do ...

Hmmm hmmmm , stroke beard, strum fingers, not really sure what else to suggest, why not chuck in a couple of Assassin Snails ? There are some in the classifieds just now, :good:

if your nerite snail has a trap door to enclose it totally in the shell then it has a good chance of surviving.

Get a small plastic container with a lid, stick in some elodea and fill it with water from the tank. Your Nerite can now live in a holiday home for a month or so whilst an assassin snail clears out your tank. Then sell/rehome the assassin and put the nerite back.

I suggest putting a slice of slightly cooked Cucumber/Corgette into the water. Leave it over night, and in the moarning it will be covered in snails. Remove your nerite snail, but take all the other snails, and get rid of them. If you are feeling kind, then you can put them in water and give them to a petstore, if you are feeling semi-kind you can put them in a jug of water, and leave them outside, if you are feeling rather unkind you can throw them away, or even crush them and put them in a tank. I'm sure Lunar would love to eat them.
Speeking of Lunar, are the snail's in Lunar's tank? Because when I had snails in Kenji's tank, he would pick them of one by one, and then spit out the shells! :fun:

Well, goodluck!

Oh those assassin snails sound like just what i need! My new nursery tank has them in - the previous owners substrate must have had them in :grr: (maybe coz its not an established tank i could just get away with changing the substrate eh?)

Yes it is in Lunars tank but he hasnt seemed to notices them yet... they just hatched and are like 2 mm long... almost to small to even see. so in the morning thats when they come out so as soon as i turn on the light i try to get them out... i decsided to manually remove them and hope i dont get an explotion... and if i do i will deal then...

i was looking at Had-A-Snail but there are some many thing it could harm just to get rid of some snails... (can kill my plants, harm fish, if i dont get it all out harm my dwarf frog and nerite...)
so i could of got it today but decided not...
