Well it's pouring here too so I just finished tidying up my spawning tanks. One of them wasn't covered and when I went to change out the water I noticed some movement in my bucket. It was full of live bloodworms! :hyper:  :kana: Apparently some randy mosquitos thought this was a great spot. Anyway, my bettas are quite fat at tyhe moment

Was the tank in the house? That's crazy if it was! I've found mosquitos in the betta room and I've always wondered (after squishing them dead) if they were there to lay eggs since I have so much still water.

No no no no no no no. That would be disgusting and a half  My fishroom is a room that is inside the garage. It has two doors, one in the garage and one to the outside. It was built there originally as a laundry room. It's kinda gross because the flies can get in, but there's not a lot of interest for them in there so they don't really stick around.

I don't really even think there are very many left...you have to remember I have a lot of bettas :look:

ohhhhh ok then

Don't let the flies near your microworm cultures, talk about gross

wow :D thats good news sorrell  do you mind me asking you how big the worms were? will they be too big to feed betta fry? i've heard of this method for some live food before, but to tell you the truth i'm a little grossed out by the idea of having baby mosquitoes, and even MORE scared of them growing into big mosquitoes loose in my house!

They were __ that big and about that wide too. Pretty little, a lot smaller then the frozen ones. I've heard of people doing that too. I think I would be grossed out as well to do it intentionally. This was a little unsettling, but I have fed almost all of them (the bettas were in heaven) and I'll probably feed the rest tonight.

that's not too bad :D it's still a pretty big worm but i could give it a shot (some variety is always nice :) )

I plan to just keep an old bucket of water outside with some fruits or something to attract the mosquitoes, but i'm so afraid of seeing swarms of them outisde in my backyard if i do that  it probably wont' happen i'm just a paranoid :)
