Gross! Snail Missing A Body!

Ok, I had a blue apple snail for about 2 months. I've kinda noticed that he's been in the same spot upside down for mabe the last week. So, today I looked at him and all was left was his shell! His body was missing! What happend? Did he die?
I don't think I want to find a naked snail rotting in my tank.

Are you sure he didn't just pull into the shell really tightly? Sometimes the lid can be fairly far in from the shell rim.

I know it's possible with some marine snails that they lose their shell and survive, but usually they get pecked to death by something or the other. Chances are it's dead and eaten already. What tank-mates do you have?

Definitely dead.. your fish could have munched it, or it could have just decomposed?

Chances are if he has been in the same spot for so long then the body has already rotted.
