grey fur

help me ive had my tank for tropical fish about 1 year and its covered all my plants(plastic) and wood in a grey fur about 1/2 inch high ive cleaned then numerous times but it just returns some one said more light but the lights on 14 hrs a day..??

What kind of fish have you got in your tank? I imagine this fur is just algae or something like that. If that is the case, algae eaters would clean it up for you. Wait for more learned responses before taking action, however.
 
Yeah, I'd say it's some kind of algae too, if it's been there for a year & doesn't seem to be having any adverse side effects. What size tank is it & what fish do you have in it? Ottos are really good for cleaning up algae, & are great for a smaller tank (or a big one), but should be kept in at least a trio, & I believe you can't use salt with them. Otherwise, there are some quite good larger catfish, such as the bristlenose catfish, which gets to about 4 1/2 inches, & apparently does quite a good job at cleaning - quite hardy, too, I believe.

I have recently had the same problem. I've had to pick off the algae by hand because scrubbing it with an algae pad or pipe cleaner will not remove it. I have increased the number of water changes I do, which has prevented the algae from returning :)
