Green Tiger Barbs

I was out on business monday night / tuesday and forgot to ask Mrs Timmy_Bee to feed my fish... Not the end of the world - it was only a day. But i came back and my green tigers were really dark. Almost black. And my standard tiger was pale. I thought they wanted a bit of grub, so went to feed them. No-one was really that keen on the food, but all ate eventually and the tiger re-gained some colour and the greens got more green.

I can understand the tiger being pale, but wasn't sure why the greens got darker. Is it usual for a green tiger to get darker when they are unhappy? as i said they are back to notmal now so no real concerns, but it confused me a bit...

Also, whilst i was away, the lights would have stayed off. Would that result in them becoming darker? (turned the lights on when i fed them)

Fish will change colour depending on mood and light available.
No light = darker fish.

thought as much. Just wanted to make sure i wasn't ignoring something bad.
