Green Sunfish Winter Tank/summer Tank Progress

so i thought i would start a journal of my green sunfish progress, he is a not a pygmy sunfish he is a regular sunfish from the Northern part of the U.S. which is where im from so i see them all the time when i go fishing all the time

so i rescued him a week ago because he ended up with a batch of feeder fish (along with the two biggest gold fish for my niece) so i got out a 5g bucket and threw him in there that i use for my fish when im changing water, its less stressful when the sides arent see through i noticed when their out of 30g. so health wise he was in pretty bad shape the ammonia was irritating his gills and he had internal parasites (im pretty sure it was parasites) well after giving him medicine he started becoming more lively, he started sitting at the top of the water waiting for food in the mornings, he is also starting to get his color back in his stripes

being a carnivore i cant keep in with my with my tropical fish tank i have so for summer i am getting my pond back out and putting him there and as for his winter tank i looked up their habitat and tried to get as close as possible to looking like it i think i did a pretty good job (IGNORE THE FAKE PLANTS IM GOING TO THE STORE AND GETTING NATURAL LOOKING ONES)

so i decided to keep the little booger and named him Champ

I have never heard of this species. Looks like you are putting plenty of effort into keeping it comfortable though. What is the adult size?

hes cool I like that, is he a livebearing fish?

im not sure what exact size they get as an adult but its a pretty good size and im pretty sure they lay eggs

ya im putting a lot of effort into it but its going to be worth it in the end i like doing this kind of stuff
all my family is supporting me specially my older brother
