Hey everyone :)

I spent about 30mins alone scrubbing of this type of algae yesterday that had been building up on the tank glass. You think coraline is hard to remove?! You should try removing this stuff.

It's just 100's of tiny dark green spots that mainly build up near the substrate and at the surface but they are very unsightly.

It took a long time to build up, it was nothing major to worry about but i decided i wasn't going to settle with my tank looking 'OK' and have put alot of effort in getting the tank looking nice and clean again while the work is being done on the house

Just wondered if anyone could ID this type of algae (If it is that) as it was growing on the cory tank for a while as well :dunno:) and if it's common

I dont have an ID, but an old student ID or bank card/credit card does well to remove it.

I used my bank card to get rid of it but it takes some work, the coraline came off easily :look:

Still, the glass is nice and clean now :)

I get the same stuff, its a pain in the tail. I use a pole shaped scraper with a metal blade on the end. Works well, but the blades fust easily ;)

Should be fine. Gold is not terribly reactive with saltwater. If you dropped it in there and left it, that wouldnt be so good for it, but it doesnt corrode like steel does
