Wanted to get some green scat for my tropical community however i was originally informed that they live in brackish conditions.

I went to the LFS last night and there they had them in a tropical tank.
Confused i asked why and they informed me that they live fine in tropical freshwater tanks - is this correct?

Dont wana buy some and then make them  Afterall they cost £15 each!

As juveniles, Scats can live in freshwater, but as they age they will require an increase in salinity until they are living in completely marine conditions.

How big are the Scats you're buying? £15 is quite expensive for a young fish. I'd expect to pay around £5- £6 for a 5-6cm specimen from my LFS.

I'm sure another forumite will blow my advise totally out of the water, but this is what I have learned. :)
