out of curiousity... mostly. gorgeous little creatures: L200 green phantoms.

i was wondering if anyone has kept them, how they fared, how well they ate, what the going rate for one is... etc, etc.

L200's 'proper' common name is the 'Lemon Spotten Green Plec', the name 'green phantom' is a fish-store name created to make them sound more exciting.
The L200 is actually the same species as the Blue Phantom, but green instead of blue-black!
WE bought our L200 six months ago for £35 at around 2.5 inches, he hasn't grown much but he's stayed healthy and eats like a horse!

Ours eats all the usual plec foods such as plec wafers (hikari for preference), sinking carnivore pellets, sinking flake, bloodworm, chopped prawn, cooked brussells sprouts and of course his favourite zucchini (courgette)

He's a bold little fella too, nearly aways snuffling around in the sand at the front of the tank or hanging upside down from the bloodworm feeder rasping at the bloodworms.

The L128s and L200s are fairly active plecos that feed on pretty much anything. Their maximum size is around 15cm/6", I have a fully grown L128 and it is a gorgeous specimin.

You shouldnt expect to pay more than £60 for a fully grown L200, and smaller ones should be around the £30-35 mark.

yep very nice lil plec, I'ved ahd my L200 for about 4 months now i think.

gorges himself on bloodworm, lancefish, shrimp, cockles and is ually first to cucumber when it goes in.

i won't mention my price and it was a bargain...

I've had my 3" L200 for about a year now and can totally second all of what SirMinion said. Mine lives in a community tank and is a very happy chappie :)

mine's in a community tank. He's full grown and I bought him for 69 pounds. I only got him a few weeks ago, he seems to have settled in, I have yet to see him eat, but I think he's been eating my plants... :flex: and I feed him the usual pleco stuff like algae wafers, bloodworm etc. I think he's eating cos I saw him poo. I just haven't ever seen him eat. He's a nice plec and he comes out of his cave a lot.

BAM! thanks guys; these were just the things i wanted to hear! i might have a lead on a Good Deal, so.... :plots: just gotta convince the roomie that i need to upgrade the 5g :sly:

you guys rock! thanks for the quick replies! (and anybody else who knows anything, feel free to continue posting ;) )
