Green Mandarinfish?

Well, yes you could support one in a tank that size but you'd have to have loads of LR and the tank would need to be at least 6 months old before adding him. mandarins almoast solely eat pod life forms (tiny underwater bugs) for food. They RARELY eat prepared foods. As such, they will decimate the pod population in a smaller tank or an immature tank. You can keep one, just please for the sake of the animal, wait at least 6 months
 
I agree, also if you are in the planning stages now you may want to look into a pod fuge above the display tank. By the time your tank has matured enough for a manderin the fuge would be up and running to supply the tank with more and more pods.
 
The other thing to be wary of is not to stock aggressive fish or predatory fish in that time period... Dont want your mandarin becoming lunch :unsure:
