just now i have had to remove a plant because a green gunk was growing around the plant like goo and it had bubbles in it what the heck was this?

hi JHT,
Is it string algae? Sounds like string or blanket algae(I don't know the scientific names :D ) When I get this stuff in the pond, I pour hydrogen peroxide on it, but I don't advise you pour it into the tank. Maybe pour some on the plant while it's in a bowl or just pull it off while you have it out of the tank. Just a side note...string algae is a sign of great water parameters :D

there is string algae in the tank on some other plants but this stuff looked like toxic waste lol but i removed it all yesterday and my oily surface problem has gone
