Most likely green bubble algae and yes, it can take over quite quickly. If you have any emerald crabs, they are known to munch on this and can keep it under some control. You can try removing it yourself by using tweezers to pinch it away from the LR. Have a syphon tube handy incase you pop the bubble as the bubble is full of spores and once popped, will spread over your whole tank. The best tip to removing these is just to go slow and try not to pop the bubble for the aformentioned reason.

Bubble algae. Common hitchiker and depending on the conditions in your tank (chemistry and lighting) it might become a bigtime nuisance algae. Removal should be done outside the tank as the bubbles can/will pop and release spores back into the tank. Once the bubble is removed, dip it in two seperate containers with saltwater and then toss it back in the tank.

Though my research on the internet I found that this is something called Bubble Algae aka Valona. DO NOT POP THE BUBBLES!!!! I read somewhere that adding a mythril Crab will eat it. What you want to do is gentally remove that rock that the bubble algae is growing on and remove it from the tank. Thats all I was able to remember on it. Hope it helps.

EDIT:::
Awww darnit someone already posted on the topic and I didnt see it. :crazy:

Ive noticed this in my tank as well past couple of weeks.. Just seems to be in one small area of one of my rocks... hmmm...

ok thanks guys! i took the piece of rok out with most of the bubbles on it and safly removed them all! there isone very samll bubble left in my tank and it is on a huge 20 pounds piece of LR! so im going to get a emerald crab to see if it takes care of it!

how did i get these in my tank? becasue if it's something i did i'ed liek to know how i did it and how to pervent it from happening agin!

thanks!

As you can see all the other green algea as well, what kind is this and what can I do to get rid of it?.

how long has the tank been running? that form of algea you usually get in a new tank and will die off on its own the be replaced with brown stuff, which will eventually go and then u should be ok!

Tank has been running for about.... over a year. But I made some changes about 3 months ago.. changed the gravel with arogonite sand, put 45 pds of live rock in there and some new inhabitants within this three months and I had a larg hair algea bloom, Brown stuff before I made all these changes.. thats why I made them..

I would guess that it came in on your newer live rock. I'm not sure you can get rid of it permanently, but an emerald crab keeps mine in check. I get a few new bubbles every few weeks and they're gone within a few days.

If you dont run a phosphate remover like rowaphos, start. And if you dont skim heavily, start :)
