green algae

OK, this might sound strange, but i want green algae to grow in my tank.

I saw a great looking cichlid tank online, and it had a nice looking green algae bed on some of the rocks. I thought it looked great..a lot of color.

How can I get green algae to grow, but at the same time avoid the brown stuff?

Have the tank lights on for longer should work.

Green algae usually is a result from a lot of light, brown algae from little light. I would try keeping your stones near to the surface thus increasing the light intensity. You then do not need to keep your lights on for too long and run the risk of having perhaps too much algae growth.

green algae is the result of to much light, just add more light and you'll have lots of green algae.
