Every day I scrape the glass on my tank and every day when I get home, its covered with green film again. Its not a thick coating, but enough to give the glass a tint especially on an angle. Any suggestions? Or is this normal?

Sounds like you have too many nutrients in the water so best course of action would be to reduce nutrients for the algae to feed on. Examples of tackling this are, by reducing feeding; using RO water; using a phosphate removal media such as phosban/rowaphos and adding s fuge containing macroalgae to help outcompete the green algae for nutrients etc etc..

Thanks... Tank has been running only for about 2 months now. I have about 10 Astrea snails, 5 Nassarius, and 8 tiny hermits (blue and black/white), 2 small fish and a "colt" coral (some debate on that as of yet). Not feeding that much and phosphates appear to be zero on the test kid I have. Ill confirm that with my LFS. Im gonna pick up some Phosban to my Fluval probably on Wed. when the LFS opens back up. Ill see what happens from there

Edit: I have also been using RO water all along

Yeah man I wouldnt worry about some green algae on the glass that just happens from time to time, no need to go chasing down phosphates and silicates just yet. Just get a mag float and call it a day :)

Thanks chris. Just a cosmetic thing. I like looking at the tank ALOT but it detracts from it with junk on my glass every day lol. I think I need a bigger mag float tho. I bought the smallest one I could find but it doesnt seem strong enough to scrape well. It doesnt remove anything well.

i really need to mind that advice as I'm still using one really tiny mag float for each one of my tanks. Definitely time to upgrade!
