Green Algae Specks....help

hi , i am not at all new to the hobby but just recently i am getting these unsightly green specks of algae all over the glass at the front of the tank, my tank is always kept clean and the water is always crystal clear. i need to clean these feckers off at least 1-2 times a week ....and believe me it takes some scrubbing to get rid of them......is there anthing i can do to limit this...?

Limit algae by limiting Ammonia....

Ammonia sources that can 'cause' algae are:

Planted tanks that have had something change (lights / ferts / CO2 etc)
Dead leaves rotting down giving off ammonia
Uneaten fish food - again rotting down giving off ammonia
Change in filter / cycling / crash / minicycle - this can even mean the addition of new fish
Stagnancy in the tank (not enogh circulation & hence inadequate filtering resulting in ammonia).

PS, even if your test kit reads zero ammonia, the amounts I'm taking about won't necessarily register...

Interesting... I'm having the same problem and reading 0 ammonia.

I have this problem but not bad at all I might have 5 little specks which I just scrape off with my finger nail.

What's your tank size, current stock and water stats. And do you have any live plants?
