a freind of mine is experiencing some nasty stuff ( as above) on the surface of the pond, is there anything ( organic) that he can use to clear it up, i have no idea of the size of the pond, but it houses kio carp, is well filtered and uv sterilised

sorry to be so vague its all i have

Need abit more info tbh. probably best with pictures.

Ive never heard of it on the surface before unless its free floating algea thats came to the surface due to the cold spell?

Just because your told its well filterd dosent mean it is.
What sort of filter is on the pond?
Is it gravity or pump feed?
Does it have a skimmer?
If it has a skimmer what filter is on the skimmer?

Seems very weird this time of year to have any type of weed/algea except from netting it out. I carnt see another way of dealing with it tbh/

is it like a green scummy substance, that looks like duckweed?

wouldnt of thought so.

if there koi in the pond 99% wouldnt be gone. but as its cold and with the koi not eating now (unless heated) it could could be duck weed but agian dont think it would grow at the temps we have been getting recently

barley straw is good for killing algae in ponds/its ecco frendly to

my dad used barely straw a while ago but i think its alot of rubbish. has never helped with any sort of algea and i think its a money grabbing device that you have to change every so often.

i have no algea/blanket weed at all in my koi pond only addictives i put in is kusuri klay and kusuri eco pure

thanks ever so much ( yes i had forgotten that i posted this  ) ill give him a call soon as get all the info u need,i dont know anything about ponds and koi so ur help is much appreciated :)
