I am so excited! I just have to contain myself, because he says we have to wait until after taxes, but I'm going to get something in the 150-200gal range. His only stipulation is that he wants a freshwater eel to live in it. I am completely ignorant on these guys so any suggestions on types to consider and possible tank mates would be great. Thanks!

Yeah. A lot of the eels you'll find will be either highly aggressive/predatory or need brackish water.

One eel that sounds like it MIGHT play well with (some) others is the Cuvier's Bichir,
Polypterus senegalus
. Obviously you'd still have to be quite selective with it's tankmates...

Does anyone have firsthand knowledge of this eel?

Thanks for the information and for that web page. I was hoping that we could get something large ( that the eel wouldn't eat), but peaceful (so as not to eat the eel) Once again though I'd like to leave it open to suggestion. Thanks.
