This thread is inspired by carolinesugar's thread about cupped bettas. Unfortunatly in America, all lfs bettas come in little tiny cups, but recently Ihave seen larger temporary containers for bettas! My last betta came in one of these conatiners.

Here is a picture of it compared to a regular Betta cup.

Also my LFS is adding a 1 inch peice of anacharis in each of the temporary cups too lengthen shelf span. Hopefully this cup will be in all LFS in the future!!

I'd say thats a bit better, but I still think they should put them in atleast 1/2 gallon :) although most of them aren't in those tiny cups for long... hopefully.
But yah...it's better than the original cups.

By the way...I like your betta in the background, he's pretty

LOL I didn't notice him... He likes to hog the spot light :shifty: . Always wanting to be in the picture.

Anywho... Yeah this cup is good for temporary situtuations... Gives more room for the betta too have a comfortable position... not curled up. I often see bubblenests in these containers in the LFS... thats a good sign.

The Wal-marts around here have them in those larger containers.

for a while my petco had the bettas in cups 1/2 the size of the "regular" ones!!! it was appalling!! they now have them back in the regular sized ones, and some in the bigger sized ones...the other problem is that some are in these plastic cups that are taller and narrower, so although they hold more water, the fish has no way of possibly flaring or even relaxing all of his fins, unless he is right at the top of the container!

Oh and I forgot to mention... They are beggining to card their bettas now too... Before the bettas would not be carded therefore when you bring them home they wont flare at a mirror or anything else because they were so immuned to other bettas around them. But this side effect varies among bettas too.

The bettas at my Walmart always come in that larger size cup, unless they've run out for whatever reason and have to use some of the spare small ones they have lying around.

Ours are kept in 150ml or so disposable plastic cups

AND THEY DONT EVEN FILL THE WATER MORE THAN HALFWAY TO THE TOP.
