I just wanted to share my good fortune and let everybody know that there are true friends running around.

As most of you know, I was planning a big move from Champaign, IL to Miami, FL in the end of May. In order to complete the move, I needed to sell my tanks :-( , my birds :-( , and most of my equipment for the tanks :-( . I would have faced a complete dismantling of my precious planted tanks. You know how I love my little guys.

Well, after cooking Cuban meals and Cornish game hens for 3 years, a great friend has stepped up and generously offered to drive me and my small zoo back to Miami in a rented U-haul. She is a very special person and is actually excited about the impending road trip.

What's best is that I get to keep my canaries, and my TANKS! Which means I'll have severe MTS when I arrive with a 36g, 20g, 15g, and a 10g will all the equipment ready to go! :band: :drink:

You can imagine how happy I am. I was moved to tears by my friend's kindness and understanding.

You've seen the poll question, I'd like your opinions on this subject. So you won't have to go sifting through two entire threads, here are two pictures of my current setups. I probably won't be able to take livestock with me, but enough of the species are available on line and my LFS has expressed interest in buying most of it back, discounted of course, but this may pay for some chemicals and such. So I have no desire to preserve the biological filtration or move any fish, except my bettas, which should survive the 2-day journey without a problem. The only major change will be a change in substrate, since I've developed a fondness for tiny black gravel.

None of my plants will be binned, but I'd like to preserve one of the layouts and plant species in one of the tanks as a momento of my time in Champaign, IL. I know sentimental, but I had a good time up here despite my complaints about the freezing weather.

All of this, of course, depends on whether or not my tanks survive the road trip, but I'm pretty confident they will. I have a lot of extra bed linens. :)

Sorry, as usual, a really long and obnoxious thread, for which I apologize. Thank you for taking the time to read. I am always appreciative.

Warmest regards,

lljdma06 :) Crossing my fingers to make sure this poll works.

Wow what a move to make! from Scotland that sounds a megga move, the longest move we made was from London to dundee which certainly is no match nor did we have to U haul any of our stuff.

I would just be scared incase some of the glass got brocken even if it is well wrapped. but good luck with the move and all the best.

If I had to choose I would pick the 15 gallon. I love that red plant in the back on the right. It looks like some sort of hygro to me. What is it?

Moving is so stressful isn't it ? Even more so when there are animals involved ! It's great that you have such a wonderful friend who's offered to help you out like that.

Its very hard to choose, but I guess from the current state, my preference would be for the 15 gallon.

Good luck :good:
