I went to Petsmart Today. I looked at the males and for $2.59( around E1) i got probably the prettiest Guppy I have ever seen in my life. It is a male yellow snakeskin lyretail guppy. He has a eye spot in the middle of his tail, and one on his midsection, and he is a very very bright yellow. He look's like those Extremely Pretty Show Guppies. I love him to death. I always loose my male guppies in around a week or 2, but my female always do good. So i tried a different acclimation technique. Every 10 minutes i would put in 2 oz. of tank for a hour, and he is doing extremely well. This is what color he is: http://www.gsas.org/Articles/1999/halfbackyellow.jpg
Imagine that yellow on this body: http://home.earthlink.net/~jhiller/images/...metal022604.jpg and add lyretail extension's, and some greenish yellow snakeskin line's, and that is what he look's like. Sorry if that is confusing! I will try to get some of my own pic's eventually, but camera is having issues.

Wow....
I love finding things like that. I found a similarly stunning platy going for less than $5 a few weeks ago... just about fell over backwards in my haste to grab a fish bag...

That guppy sounds absolutely magnificent. Wish I had room for some guppies, there are some nice ones at the LFS.
Good luck with him.

Yup... haha.

Picked up a male platy at the markets yesterday.
He'd been sloshed around on a long road trip over a bumpy, windy road in an icecream container.
Stuck in a jar, picked up, swirled around and poked by inquisitive kids, and me trying to find a male of that strain.
Netted and chucked in yet another tiny jar.
Carried around the markets in a tiny jam jar.
Dragged off home along another bumpy road.
Shuffled between acclimatisation containers.
Chucked in an unfamiliar tank with fish he's never met before.

By mid afternoon he was displaying for my females.

And people say fish are delicate... lol.

woooooooooooooooooooooooooooah your so lucky i have already got 4 guppies in a 15G tank but they breed plenty so when i saw what looked like endlerXguppy i nearly cried!
i got a new tank a few days ago so obviously theres room i run up too pets at home and ALL of them gone

We'll ive got 1 angel, 1 blood parrot, 2 mollies, 5 tetra's, 2 danio's. And in another tank 2 convict's, plus around 200 babies. So i dont tihnk that i will be over run! I might keep some that look promising!

I have a 30g! It isnt big, and when some of the fish( ie, the parrot) get's to big, i will give it away!

You do have a small tnak, jusy kidding. Smaller tanks are easier to keep stabel( ie- water quality). It cna be hard with the 30g some times because you have to do monester water changes if the nitrates or nitrites, or ammonia were to get high, but thankfully that hasnt happen to me for months.

I have had my eye on some very impressive Guppys this past week but the LFS were unable to sell due to acclimatisation - which is of course encouraging - I went back this Saturday and bought 5 for a tenner - 3 Blue and 2 Reds - all males.
I am lucky to have the space in my shed for a fry tank which is around 180L which ive partitioned into 3 with glass inserts. I had a baby-fest recently in my main tank and transferred around 30 Guppy Fry to the other tank - unfortunately ALL turned out to be FEMALE - Spooky or what!!! So, I needed some well endowed males to keep the ladies happy - hence my weekend jaunt to the LFS. Sadly however, 4 out of the 5 died within 12 hours. I went back to the LFS on Sunday and they had already taken the Guppys off the marked as others had also died after being sold. They said due to years of "in-breeding" some Guppys have become very fragile and dont handle stress at all well. Hey Ho, they did manage to replace my losses with 4 other very impressive Guppys that had been brought in earlier that day by a local enthusiast (pure Red which I hadnt seen before) and one included a large Female - these have at least lasted 24 hours and seem to be doing ok. After a spell in quarantine I'll transfer them across to the other 2 partitions. Cant wait now to see what the next generation brings....!

Interesthing this game isnt it....?

You should post picks of you fry when they develope thier colors. They sound like they will look neet. Wow, all females, that's weard! Most of my fry did turn out to be females, but only 3/5. My friend also gets mostly females.

Sadley he died  :rip: :byebye: He was so pretty, adn so young. I think that most male guppies must be to inbred, becasue i never have luck! He was fine 2 day's ago. But yesterdya, where his dorsal fin is( was!) there was some white stuff, and then he died. This happens to about all my guppies! I can never figure out what it is! Any idea's?

lol totaly the oppisite to me my beautiful guppys screwed me over lol 19 out of the 21 lil guys where male had to transfer to a seperate tank and now have to invest in a few more females when i say few i mean Loads! lol

Maybe it is my water??? The guppies come from chicago, but peoria has notoriously bad water!!!!!!!!!
