ive heard ppl saying they have gravid females... is that sorta the same as guppies.... a spot towards their anal region... one of my females has it, and shes pretty fat.. im assuming this means she is full of eggs.. shes white so i dont see any vertical bars, but i put her in a cup in the 3 gallon breeding tank with one of my yellow petcetera bettas.... the male didnt really have a nest so i added some from another male, but the female doesnt seem to be responding much.... and the male doesnt really flare at her either... i guess it will take some time? its 4:15pm here.. i guess around 9 tonight i should put her in? and see if anything happens the next morning? does this sound ok?

Did you condition the pair before you tried this? I know females will get gravid and release eggs about once a month no matter what. How long have you had the male in the 3 gallon? Kinda sounds like you did this all of the sudden, just trying to understand better.

ive been conditioning the female for about a month now... she gets a mix of freeze dried brine shrimp, blood worms, those betta bio bites, and flakes...

the male has been chilling... havent really done any conditioning of him.. i thought his sex drive would be enough lol...

i did just put the male in the 3 gallon today, same with the female..

i noticed the females gravidness lol ... and thought id try her ... i picked the male cause hes been pretty lively ever since i got him, and hes a petcetera one, not one of my good breeder guys, so i thought id try him first (and the female) , before i start trying with the ones i got from a breeder.. the female is swimmin around her cup, and the male keeps swimming by the cup, but not a lot of flaring.... maybe hes just getting used to his new home... i have tons of other males to try another day if things dont work out, so i guess ill just have to be patient :X

i voted for you in botm btw

Sounds like you are ready to rock and roll then!

Hope it works out, make sure and keep us posted,I have never had any success breeding mine. :sly:

Thankx for the vote!!

yea.. i tried once before... sorta... but nothin.... this time i actually know what im doin i think :S

only thing i dont have in that tank is a heater... so once the babies are free swimming they will have to be moved somewhere :X

not sure where yet.. maybe just to a hotter room in the house.. or i might have to stick the good ol divider in the females 10.. bah well see... first thing is babies.. if i get the babies EVER then ill start worrying about where im gonna put them

iloveyou, check on aquabid in the breeding supplies, they sell betta cups for dividing fry for a good price. They deliver to canada, too. :)

bah... i donno what happened overnight... but she is very skinny... no bubblenest, no sign of eggs.. im guessing she and or he ate them

i have a ton of breeding trraps if i need to put the fry in a heated tank anyways
