How is it powered ? Air (connects to air pump) , battery... err has batteries ! or siphon ? (big tube connected to smaller longer flexible tube....)

If its a siphon..Basicly just a tube. Easiest way is to sumurge the whole lot starting with the suction end. (usually bigger). Expelling all air bubbles. Then put your thumb over the outlet end, move over your bucket.(which is lower than your inlet end) And release your thumb. This is easier than jigging it up and down as some instructions say. (takes a long time to start ive found.

Then just sift through the gravel, sucking up water and crap as you go.

And you can use it on sand also...Just need to have it higher up so you are only sucking crap, not sand...
May take some practice...I dont have sand but have heard its quite possible...

I just jiggle mine up and down usually takes about 10 tries to get it started though
