Hey pplz!! I want to change my gravel aquarium to sand and i have a few questions.
1. What type of sand? Atm i have some sand in big bags that my dad uses in the backyard.
2. Is sand easyer to clean?
3. Will it kill my fish? 4 black neons tetras, 4 neon tetras, 5 red eyed tetras, 2 swordtails.
And plz give me some tips that i might need coz i dont want any of my fish to die. Thanks :)

dont use builders sand use playsand from argos or toys r us

sand tends to be easier to clean yes

not if you use toys r us play sand as it makes no merky water at al

What bae1994 said Kids play sand :good:

You still have to clean it real good before putting it in your aquarium.

put a load in a bucket about 1/3 level then put a hose in there run the water continuously for about 15 minutes stirring from time to time when you first start you will see a lot of scum come out (makes you glad you cleaned it) but after a while you will have clear water drain the water off and hey presto :good:

Personally and this could be considered over kill but nothing is to good for my fish i fill the bucket up with declouronated water and swirl it around once more but as I said this could be considered over kill

How to clean sand well it gets easier with practice and you can find plenty of threads here on TFF on how to do it also there are plenty of videos on you tube on how to do it here is one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ti2PXBY_ffI

Logan is kinda cool :good:

Hope this helps

I use Tahiti Moon Sand. its a nice black sand that looks great. Its kinda expensive at 25 bucks per 20 pound bag but it just looks so good. I just recently purchased a different sand which is suppose to have plant nutrients and live bacteria (dont have high hopes on that). Looks good and will have it up and running by next weekend. I never changed on an tank is use before though. It should never harm your fish as long as they arnt inside while you do it.
