My goldfish has a lump of gravel lodged in his nostril... He is a big fish (so he has big nostrils) and it's a small bit of gravel... I thought it was fungus when i first saw it, because it's white, but looking closely it's definately gravel... I'm really worried it might go into his brain? is that possible?? Should I try to remove it - how??

Should I take him to a vet??

it's ok  I rang a friend at the fish shop where I work and he knows a lot about fish... he said take it out with tweezers. So I got him out of the tank, but he thrashed around so much he dislodged the gravel!! poor fishy... he's so stressed now... I've put in stress coat and melafix...

Holy sh*t, I wouldn't have had the guts to do that!

You're my hero for even trying, lol :D .
Good work!

Hi hellohefalump.

You were really brave to try that I do not know if I could have done it. So pleased if is out for him, it must have been horrid.

I'm sure he will settle down well now - Well done

:fun:  thanks he seems fine today, eating etc... his usual neurotic self! He's a mad fish... he's eight years old, HUGE compared to his tankmates, but scared of everything... bloodworm, little fish, new plants... lights... but I love him :) he was a fairground fish and I've had him now for eight years! His name is lucky because I won him and he's lucky becuase he got rescued from the fair!
