Hi

I have just set up my tank today and put the water in. I washed the gravel a lot (no really I did) then put it in the tank and added the water. The gravel is white (I assume it has been coloured) but it has made my tank very cloudy.

I do not know if just the filter will clean out the cloudiness or if it will settle down or if I have to empty it and clean the gravel more.

The filter is a Fluval 204 with carbon and BioMax in it. The pump is twice as big as required.

I would appreciate any help (This is my first post YEAH)

:hi: to the forum

I think that your gravel is not washed enough despite the many long hours you put into cleaning it :p You did put in hours, right :D . It may just settle out over the next couple of days but if you stir up the gravel does it cloudier in the tank if it does you are better off taking it all out and wash some more.

Hi Tindy, :hi: to the forum. Read the topic on the tank cycle and that can help you getting your new tank up and running. I'd just wait for things to settle, new gravel and water can be quite cloudy at the onset. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum :hi:

I also have white gravel and spent alot of time cleaning it, but it also caussed my tank to go very cloudy. It did however clear within 24 hours, so don't worry.

Give it 2-3 days to settle out. It won't harm the fish. After that, you may have to do a 50% water change and re-wash the gravel.
