Hi, I have around £300 to spend on a graphics card for my new PC, which will probably have a chipset 590 sli motherboard, however, there are the new radeon x1950 series, and tbh they look awesome, so I just need to know what would be better, this:

the top one

or something like this:

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo...roductID=466119

that one is significantly cheaper, so is it also much worse?

might as well ask this, is this a good deal, I don't like intel tbh but I hear the new CPUs crush AMD

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Full_Systems.html

its the "Titan" Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 'LGA775' 1.86GHz Dual Core (1066FSB) DDR2 System (FS-000-OK)

thanks

Hi there,

Both cards are very good and I would go for the 7950 GT. Why ?

Well ok it isnt as good as the Ati card but it will be more than happy with 99% of the games out now Lol. Also with the extra money you could buy two of the cards and run them in SLI with would give you 1GB and be able to play ANYTHING at full speeds Lol.

BEWARE:-

Running either of the above cards will require a Power Supply of at LEAST 550Watts however more is better. To run the SLI set up even more would be needed.

I couldnt find your computer but going to have another look Lol.

Just looked at the machine:

I wouldnt buy it. If it were me I would buy stuff seperate and put together myself.

The card you get with it is ok but not as good as your other choices and the power supply wont be enough to cope with either of your other choice cards.

You dont REALLY need a floppy disk drive either, just taking up more room imo. Memory sticks and usbs have taken over floppy disks.

Not sure how big the case is but go for a FULL size one so you can fit everything you want in it nicely leaving room for air to ciculate around it easily.

Also you may wont to invest in extra fans to suck out hot air. On my set up I have 5 fans including the CPU one.

Hope this is of some use to you Lol.

also, I am stuck on processors, AMD I like, but Intel have the new core 2 duo, which one would you recommend?

tbh I feel like waiting for AMD, but will the new processors that they will make be compatible with my existing motherboard? I would have thought so with AMD tbh, but intel's new chip is about the same price and much better apparently

AMD have duel cores and have done for ages.

the AMD chip wont be compatible with intel chip boards sadly.

My vote is for AMD as I find them to run better when it comes to games and is VERY smooth while doing the normal jobs.

Intel newest chips are good but its only becuase they are the newest chips out. I mean you can almost garentee what ever chip AMD brings out next will knock the socks off intels Lol.

What ever you buy now however will be out of date in the next few years due to Windows and vista Lol. Even though what you get will run fine alot of new technology will be coming our way.

Have a looksy here:

I know that the chips aren't swappable, but the intel chip seriously crushes AMD, oh well, hopefully they'll release a new chip, but it will use a different manafacturing process, 65 something or other, will this mean it won't work on a motherboard that is only 6 months old?

for the CPU to work you need the right chip set 939 for AMD or whatever it is for Intel.

I dont know of any board that allows both.

I would say go for the setup which would give you the longest upgrade path.

Intel are famous for changing their socket design with every major new chip release. Wheras AMD tend to stick with a couple of sockets and run them for longer until they are forced to change.

AMD's AM2 architecture looks like a great route to take at the moment. There is an AM2 version of nearly all AMD's chips at the moment, and even when they move to AM3, I believe it's going to be backwards compatible, you just wount get the DDR3 memory support.

I would probably look at the ATi graphics card. Especially if you're looking at AMD processors as the two companys are now one and the same! Ok the merger has happened so recently that it wouldn't benefit current technology, but in the future i can see the two technologies benefiting each other much more.
