Well I need help in what powerhead will fit in a 12 gallon nano cube. How many gallons per hour does the 12 gallon need from the powerhead. I also have the same question for a 24 gallon aquapod.

Generally 20x turnover rate per hour is reccomended. So for a 12g, you'd want 240gph and for a 24g you'd want 480gph

Maxi 900 are hard to beat for their price, reliability, and watts/GPH ratio. 8)

Thanks guy for all the help. So are you sure 20x the amounts of gallons is right. I will not want to make a mistake on buying it. So like a 180 gallon tank would need 3600 gph in a powerhed. That sounds like alot seeing that a 180 gallon reef tank canister filter of Eheim Pro III is 450 gph.

When looking for powerheads, despite what everyone will tell you, pass up Tunze and Seio and get Maxijets.

I know this sounds utterly absurd, but some of you may regret spending so much extra money on Tunze and Seio after viewing the DIY "Maxi-stream" found at Reef Videos.

Agreed. When you're talking really big tanks requiring lots of flow, sometimes a modded maxijet is better. That reef-videos is great, but dont forget mjmods.com for the parts ;)

I was thinking of buying the maxijets because they are great powerheads and they are not expensive. I have seen many people in the nanao reef section of the forum use it, so I am convince it is the best because of its bebefits.
