Hiya All

I have 2 Honey Gouramis and 1 Pearl gourami in my community tank (stocking in my sig) and they are becoming increasingly aggressive towards each other and the other fish. Previously they have been calm so does anyone know why they should suddenly become aggressive?

Many thanks

Kaye

are they reasonably new to the tank?

what sex are they?

No they are not new to the tank, have had the pearl about a year nad the honeys about 6 months. And I have no idea what sex they are :-(

Actually just went an looked it up - it seems that my two honeys are female and the pearl is male :)

It's pretty uncommon for either pearl or honey gouramis to become disruptively aggressive, so to some extent I think you're unlucky here. Males of both species (not the females) guard territories around their nests, and if the males have now become sexually mature, this might explain what you're seeing.

Not really much you can do about it, if this is what's going on.

Cheers, Neale

if you have got the space try getting a few more as thats what i did when i used to keep gouramis to spread the aggression and they should calm down
