I am having problems with my dwarf gouramies. i have about 6 of them in a 29g tank and 2 have died for no reason in the past 24 hours they are 2 weeks old and a 3rd is starting to die. my pH is 7 and ammonia is 0.5 and KH is low. can someone please tell me what water qualities are needed for dwarf gouramies cause i don't know if i did something wrong.

OP firstly Hi and welcome,

How long has the tank been set up, has it finished cycling? - You should be getting zero readings for ammonia and nitrIte.

Do you have any other results for the water? - nitrIte, nitrate temp etc.

my water is 79-80*F i have no ammonia and i never bought a nitrite or nitrate test kit.

Hi and welcome. Is this a new tank or well established. It seems like the tank is cycling and most probably you have a nitrite spike. Get the water tested, either buy a kit or take a sample to your local fish supplier. He can test the water for you. Check for ammonia and nitrite. These are the two main chemicals that will kill your fish. Once we have your readings, then it will be easier to discover what is killing your fish. Good luck

The thing with dwarf gouramies is because of the way they have been bred over the last several years they are not a hardy lot. Meaning they are very sensitive to water conditions and what not. They die for unknown reasons and don't do well in general. HOWEVER that is not the case for all. There are some that do really well. I don't know what kind of dwarf you have so I can not tell you which type you have. Also the more info you can give me on your tank the better chance I have at figureing out whats going on with them.
