gourami laying around

my powder blue gourami has been laying at the top of the water for the last few days... no its not dead. it just kind of lays on its side and chills out around the top until someone gos hear the tank then he swims like normal. anyone ever had this happen? i changed the water yesterday hoping to alleviate the problem but it hasnt worked.

mine did this, then hid behind the filter, then was found dead on the bottom. Is he eating? if not I reckon you have one sick fish. Is he gasping for breath?

I dunno- water change, again, monitor parameters, look for signs of a parasite, errr
hopefully someone will have more ideas than me
