Hi there, I have been keeping fish tanks for awhile, I've recently got a couple of dwarf Gouramis, I know you shouldn't buy from a tank that has a few sick fish in it but I thought I could help the fish I bought. One of them seemed healthy at first but has been getting this skin condition that seems to be getting worse, I've put him in a hospital tank, and have dosed with aquarium salt and a medication that has formaldehyde and copper sulfate (something like that, I don't have it on me with the exact ingredients) in hopes that it would help him, I can't tell wether it's getting better or worse, and before I go too far, does someone know what this is, and how to help??

This looks like a case of Dwarf Gourami Iridovirus, which isn't treatable.

I hope the shop didn't charge you for the fish.

It has a bacterial infection and probably won't survive.

Dwarf gouramis (Colisa lalius) and all their colour forms are not good fish these days. They regularly have the gourami Iridovirus and or Fish Tuberculosis (TB), neither of which can be treated. And if either disease gets into a tank, it will remain there until the tank is disinfected.

If the fish has stopped eating, I would euthanise it.
